In fact, the Teflon lens coating also incorporates an anti-static type property which practically repells dirt and debris keeping your lenses cleaner for a longer period of time. Transistions (Photochromic) Lenses

Photochromatic lenses are clear (or nearly clear) indoors and darken automatically when exposed to the ultra-violet radiation (UV) of the sun outdoors. They protect the patient from 100% of UV radiation in all conditions.

Available in most materials. Transitions lenses are the most common of the photochromic lenses sold today. They are available in a wide variety of lens materials such as conventional plastic, polycarbonate, and high-index plastic.

Convenient Protecion. Transitions lenses are convenient because they reduce the need to carry around a second pair of prescription sunglasses under most circumstances. This makes them especially great for children and ensures that they are always getting the protection they need from the harmful effects of UV exposure. Studies have proven that UV light can cause both cataract formation at an earlier age as well as macular degeneration, which is a leading cause of vision loss in the United States.

Perfect for Children. The most recent studies indicate that children receive up to 6 times more penetration of UV into their eyes as adults because their eyes are not fully developed. They also tend to spend more time outdoors in the sun playing. By wearing sun protection at an early age, they should delay or eliminate the chances of many age-related eye diseases associated with UV exposure such as cataracts and macular degeneration.

Polarized lenses are specially designed lenses for use when more protection is required from UV rays and glare. They are the best lenses for outdoor activities such as driving, boating, golfing, skiing, gliding, motorcycling, hiking, etc. Polarization filters out any horizontal glare and reflections from surfaces. Colors of objects appear warmer and clearer with less haze.

PolarizationHow Polarized Lenses Work. Light reflected from any horizontal surface such as a flat road, a water surface, or the hood or windshield of a car produces horizontally polarized light waves. We generally perceive this light as glare. Polarized lenses have a special filter embedded into the lens as a layer which blocks all horizontal light while allowing all other light waves to pass through to our eyes. This eliminates, or at least reduces the glare from these types of surfaces. An easy way to see how effective your polarized lenses are working is to tilt either the lens or your head to the side 90° and you will be able to see all of the glare and reflections. This can be really obvious when driving into the sun. Please do not experiment with your lenses while driving unless you are the passenger.
